IEEE-NEMS 2006 will be held at Zhuhai, China from January 18-21.
Established in 1979, Zhuhai is a SEZ(Special Economic Zone), that was established as part of China's economic reforms and was one of the earliest special economic zones established in China. This "City of 100 Islands", a seaside city of approximately 1.8m people is located in South Guangdong province and consists of 146 islands.
The IEEE-NEMS conference is the first international conference on Nano/Micro Engineeered and Molecular Systems in China sponsored and organized by the IEEE Nanotechnology Council, GETI, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Peking University, the Chinese Society of Micro and Nano Technology and several other organizations.
IEEE-NEMS is to provide a forum for experts in Micro and Nano sciences and engineering to disseminate recent advances in related technologies and their perspectives on the future and direction of research, providing direct cross-fertilization in these areas and discussing trends. A sampling of the focus areas include:
Micro/Nano Fabrication, Nano Sensors and Actuators, Nanophotonics, Nanomaterials, Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, Micro and Nano Heat Transfer, Nanobiology, Nano-Bio-Informatics, Nanomedicine, Nanoscale Robotics, Assembly and Automation, Carbon Nanotube based Devices and Systems, Nanoelectricalmechanical Systems- NEMS, Microelectricalmechanical Systems- MEMS, Micro Sensors and Actuators, Molecular Sensors, Actuators and Systems and the Integration of MEMS/NEMS with Molecular Sensors/Actuactors.
Louis Ross, GETI Executive Director, will act as the Chair of the Industrial Commercialization Workshop for IEEE NEMS 2006. The GETI hosted workshop will feature invited talks by industry, including venture companies looking to commercialize related technologies developed at university labs, with experts discussing the most promising areas for technology transfer and commercialization.
