Fraunhofer Symposium, Berlin
Oct 10, 2006

GETI Managing Director Miwako Waga will give an invited talk entitled "Overview of Micro Energy Technology Development in Japan" at the Fraunhofer Sympoium on Micro Energy Technology to be held in Berlin, Germany.

Increasingly sophisticated portable electronic devices require more powerful batteries and the development of new energy technologies.  Cell phones are no longer used exclusively for making phone calls.  Rather, they also can be used for navigating, for making movies or receiving digital television broadcast.  All of these functions require additional energy that can no longer be sufficiently provided by the present battery technologies. Innovative, miniaturized energy systems that significantly prolong the operating time of portable electronic devices are in strong demand for consumer systems and emerging niche markets.

The Fraunhofer Symposium on Micro Energy Technology, hosted by Germany's leading research institute (Fraunhofer Gesellschaft), will feature leading university based and corporate researchers and developers who specialize in power solutions for a variety of consumer electronic devices.  Talks will highlight recent developments in micro power emerging technologies in Europe, the US, Japan and Asia
